As a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), Diane provides both short term and long term counselling in a confidential and safe environment. She holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, combining various theoretical approaches that aid in her ability to support people in whatever problems they may bring to therapy such as anxiety, depression, bereavement, self-esteem issues, anger issues and relationship problems.
Diane has a special interest in working with trauma, complicated and prolonged grief, suicide prevention/intervention and postvention, abuse and addiction (especially gambling addiction). Diane holds a Diploma in Trauma Informed Psychotherapy (IACP accredited) and utilizes the learning from this, especially polyvagal theory and mindfulness-based and compassion-based practices, throughout her clinical practice.
Diane is an existential/humanistic therapist at heart, in guiding people to search and find meaning and purpose in their life. She leans towards using Choice Theory/Reality Therapy to help people to explore their wants, possible things they can do, opportunities for self-evaluation, design plans to promote change, clarify, and encourage choice of goals, and support those goals. Diane is aware of the importance of the establishment of the therapeutic relationship, and of this being key for therapy to be successful and in creating a safe place where people can freely explore their own world. Her way of being is person centred aspiring to listen, to be congruent and empathic with people and endeavours to ensure that the autonomy of the person remains at the centre of therapy.
