John is a qualified Guidance Counsellor and has been working in education for over twenty years. He offers clients one-to-one guidance counselling. This includes educational guidance, career guidance as well as personal and social guidance and coaching.
John has worked as a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator (/SENCO), Special Education Teacher, English teacher and now as a Guidance Counsellor. He has worked in education in Ireland and England and at both Primary and Secondary level. In addition to John’s work in education, he is also a published author and have worked in the publishing industry in various capacities
Qualifications:
- Master in Guidance Counselling – Dublin City University (DCU)
- Graduate Diploma in Special Educational Needs – University City Dublin (UCD)
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education – Institute of Education, University of London (UL)
- BA (HONS) English – University North London (UNL)
While most of John’s clients are young people who are managing challenging times in their educational journey or managing transitions from primary to secondary school, Junior Cycle to Senior Cycle or from Senior Cycle to Third Level education and the World of Work, John also engages with adult clients who are seeking career changes and advancement.
John has person-centred approach to counselling to encourage his clients to examine their choices and decision-making processes, to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to research their interests and options and to become critical thinkers about their own lives and ambitions.
